June 2022 Health and Safety Excellence program meeting

Wondering what the Health and Safety Excellence program meetings are like? Keep watching! The following is a summary of our June 2022 Health and Safety Excellence program meeting held at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. This meeting was particularly special for a few reasons, mainly our wonderful guest speakers and BIG changes announced to our program from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

- Myself, Wiebke Wilkens, provided participants with more information on the Health and Safety Excellence program with the WSIB, for which we are the approved provider in Eastern Ontario. Changes include some incredible rebates and perks for Small Businesses in 2022, which I elaborate on more in this video.

- Keegan Davis-Burns, a lawyer from Cunningham Swan Lawyers in Kingston, joined us and provided a wonderful presentation that gave more context on the NEW Right To Disconnect Policy in the Employment Standards Act, now in effect as of June 2nd, 2022.

- Justine McIsaac, Consumption Treatment Coordinator, affiliated with the Kingston Integrated Care Hub, joined in with a very moving presentation on the Opioid Crisis. Both in Ontario, and even closer to home, in Kingston. Kingston, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, has experienced more deaths due to opioids than to COVID-19 in the region. Participants were given Naloxone Kits with detailed directions on how to use them. Our meetings are designed to update our clients on current hot topics, address legislative changes and give our clients a chance to learn from one another and valuable community partners.
